Because: small things, done consistently, create major impact.
Real change occurs not with a flash in the pan but with steady engagement at some new level of interaction. An automatic investment of a small percentage of your income, attending an exercise class every week... meditative reflection every evening -- these are the keys to significant progress.
– Ready for Anything by David Allen, page 144 (chapter 49)
RIGHT NOW, this very moment - CDC/Pharma are disseminating an endless propaganda stream designed to stop us from asking important questions about health. Activists and educators strengthen freedom and democracy by countering propaganda with truth. There has never been a better time to do this than now. This article describes how to do this effectively and relentlessly.
The more we question, the more we choose to take control over our lives and make our own informed choices. We develop a vision of how we want to live, which is often in direct opposition to what “experts” tell us we should do.
Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.
– James Madison, 1822
Propaganda short-circuits the question/learning process with pre-packaged directives aimed at compliance.
For the past few years, the CDC has been campaigning for pregnant women to get the TDaP vaccine in the 3rd trimester of each pregnancy. Consider this innocent-looking – but potentially quite harmful – propaganda from the CDC:
This is designed to make us feel good about being pregnant and getting Tdap... and uneasy about not doing so. CDC wants compliance – not questions from the thinking minds of free people.
Twitter is ideal as a propaganda-countering broadcasting platform. For example, in this tweet, we show the CDC's cartoon next to what the FDA-approved package insert for a TDaP vaccine actually says about the risks of vaccinating pregnant women:
The CDC's propaganda and the FDA-approved package insert say two very different things. Both cannot be true. This tweet supports, in a small, incremental way, the human right of informed consent – with an invitation to ask questions, such as:
Fortunately, it's really easy to find this out. Every tweet comes with stats that we can inspect at anytime. You can do this for any of your own tweets by clicking as shown below:
After clicking on “View Tweet activity”, we can inspect the stats:
For one tweet to reach almost 700 people isn't bad. At the time of the tweet, @VaxCalc had about 3,500 followers – a single tweet never reaches all of your followers. An average tweet, with zero RTs, will reach about 5 percent of your followers. In this case, the 20 RT's pushed the impressions way up.
However, if we only tweet it once, then nobody else will see it – including all your future new followers who are searching for you and need to hear your message. Tweets have a short shelf-life of just a few hours because they are drowned out in your follower's endless timeline stream. For that wonderful tweet to be all but dead within 24 hours is a terrible waste.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
Instead of being a wasteful use-once and toss it away blip, each tweet can be an investment that is used again and again and again, continually reaching new people over a period of years.
Once a tweet is pulled into Autovist, it becomes part of your database of tweets and is randomly broadcast over and over, literally for years. As of today (May 23, 2017), our propaganda-countering tweet has been broadcast 47 times, generating almost 12,000 impressions instead of just under 700.
And that's just one tweet. From October 2014 through October 2015, Autovist generated 3,121,000 impressions for @VaxCalc - with an average of just 3,775 followers. This is a very big deal for me personally (I run @VaxCalc) because it saves me a ton of time, allowing me to focus on creating high-quality new tweets - and to have a life.
The impressions number comes from Twitter Analytics, while the average followers comes from Autovist data. Autovist has a phenonomal dashboard to track all kinds of important, actionable metrics so that you always know how well you're doing. It also discovers your best recent and best all-time retweeters - by retweet count and follower count. There is nothing like it anywhere else.
The View History button contains live broadcast data regarding the propagdanda-countering tweet we've been discussing. If you click on it, you'll see the entire broadcast history as of today. (Subscribers have the View History button for every tweet they put out.)
In other words, when you click that View History button, you'll see how Autovist automates your activism, putting into action "small things, done consistently, create major impact."

Live Autovist stats for @VaxCalc
Your machine was created on November 27, 2013 - over 3 years ago
It has posted 28,411 tweets for you, saving you 3.55 Million tedious keystrokes of effort!
One last thing before you go. When I say that Autovist broadcasts your tweets over and over and over, its very important how you use this power. You could just let it run and forget about it. A much better use is to follow your own tweets as they are randomly broadcast. Its totally fascinating because you never know what will come next. Better yet, as time goes by, you'll tweak and improve some tweets. You'll get feedback from followers and improve the wording. Or maybe you got something wrong and you'll fix it. One thing I do is add tags like [History] or to show that it happened awhile ago but is still worth knowing about.
The take away here is that through repetition, you are always improving. Its like practicing the same karate move again and again. You're gonna keep getting better when you pay attention and focus.
